BOBBY RAY

Welcome Bobby Ray the newest member of the Roach Family.  Bobby was hand-carved from Basswood using knives, chisels, and small power cutter.  Hand-painted with acrylic paints and coated with lacquer.  I'm using Mike Shipley's "Whittling Country Folk" as a guide. I cut out the rough with a bandsaw, then rough shape the figure and add finer detail with carving knives and chisels. The final smoothing and sanding is done with a Strong 202 micro-carver and various small bits. It requires 3-dimensional perception and patient attention to detail.  Lots of fun!
