I love little soft, furry, cuddly bunnies. So, this creation was fun to make. This little cottontail rabbit was carved out of Basswood using hand gouges, knives, and power tools. I formed the rabbits body and stand using various sizes of hand gouges, knives, and Saburr bits. The finer details were done with Tungsten steel carbide burs, and the final smoothing was done with ceramic blue stone bits and sand paper. I painted the eyes, feet, chest, and inner ears with acrylic paint, and covered the entire body and stand with a natural stain that brought out the rich tan tones of the wood. Finally, I covered the body with a light spray of polyurethane.
