This Golden-crowned Kinglet is my latest addition to my bird-carving collection. It was done out of tupelo wood with power cutting tools. Tupelo is particularly good for power cutting, where Basswood is more suitable for hand-carving, although I've done both. I colored the kinglet with acrylic paints and mounted it on a branch using wire and Quickwood to form the legs and feet. I've got a lot to learn yet about carving, but I find creating birds and animals out of wood a fascinating exercise in creation. I finished this kinglet in August 2020.
Gorgeous! I love it! Can you put my name on that?
