This is an oil painting on canvas that I did about a year ago from a photograph I took while visiting Yellowstone. Top Notch Peak is in the Absaroka Mountains east of Yellowstone Lake. Sylvan Lake is a beautiful little lake nestled high in Sylvan Pass where the East Entrance Road to Cody, Wyoming passes through. It was a favorite hike for our family during the many summers we lived at Fishing Bridge. I have been studying Bob Ross's technique of painting and have enjoyed it. His method makes painting mountains easier and, in ways, realistic.
